The reconstruction of Center Avenue in Janesville from Court to Nicolet Street will start later this month.

Governor Tony Evers recently signed a a $9.4 million contract to reconstruct what is also known as U.S. Highway 51.

Wisconsin Department of Transportation Construction Project Manager Adam Kopp says the public is invited to learn more about the project during an informational meeting on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Rock County Resource Center.

The project team will discuss construction operations, closures, detour routes, local access, project timelines, and more at the meeting.

Kopp says the project includes new concrete pavement, curb and gutter, driveway aprons, sidewalk, bridge rehabilitation, storm sewer, water main, street lighting, and traffic signal upgrades.
