A 27-year-old Town of Beloit man arrested in connection to a non-fatal shooting last week makes his initial appearance in Rock County court.

Merlin Varela-Licona appeared in front of Court Commissioner Mason Braunschwieg Wednesday afternoon on charges of attempted 1st degree reckless homicide and 1st degree recklessly endangering safety.

According to police, a victim alleged to have been shot by Varela-Licona walked into the Beloit Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound a little before 7olock last Friday.

Braunschweig ordered a $100,000 cash bond for Varela-Licona, who was an adjourned initial appearance now scheduled for March 22nd.
