Rock County will investigate the potential sale of the now vacant Health Care Center.

District 14 Supervisor Mike Zoril says the county could actually sell the facility for a negative bid and pay someone to take it off their hands, and thus save the county over $2 million by not having to deal with associated costs.

District 29 Supervisor Kathy Schulz says it’s worthwhile to look into moving on from the facility and see if someone else could make productive use of the building or the land it sits on.

The center has been vacant since the county opened a new health services center on Janesville’s south side in 2021.
