An upcoming class at Edgerton Public High School is giving local residents the opportunity to help the National Weather Service.

Rock County Emergency Management Director Kevin Wernet says a Storm Spotter Training course will be held Wednesday night from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

The class will go over the materials and training needed so people can accurately report things to the NWS.

The National Weather Service issues the warnings and watches, but they can only see so much, so having people on the ground in the area who can give them as much information as possible is a big help.

The class is free and open to the public.
