A bill signed Thursday by Governor Tony Evers is going to make a proposed soybean processing facility project in Evansville a little easier to get done.

City Administrator Jason Sergeant says the bill gives some relief by granting a one time exception to state statutes that normally limit tax increment financing districts.

Sergeant says the passing of the bill is a major milestone, but the company behind the project, CHS, still has to finish up construction design and engineering and the city also has to get some permits approved before the project is a go.

The roughly $700 million project is anticipated to be open and operational in 2026.
