As of March 14th a total of 58 cases of measles have been reported in 17 states including Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota.

Rock County Public Health Officer Katrina Harwood says that is cause for concern as it’s more cases then the United States typically sees in an entire year.

Measles causes a rash and high fever and can seriously sicken young children who aren’t vaccinated against the disease.

The U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the recommended, two-dose vaccine for Measles, Mumps and Rubella is 97-percent effective guarding children against Measles.
