For the first time in Beloit Transit’s more than half century history, it will be providing free bus rides to citizens on election day.

Transit Director Don Driscoll the City of Beloit will have voting on April 2nd, August 13th, October 30th and 31st, and November 5th.

Driscoll says providing free bus rides on elections days will cost the City about $1,500 in lost revenue.

The City Council approved waiving bus fare on election days in a unanimous vote on Monday night.
