The Traxler Park Lagoon is welcoming back the Annual Take a Kid Fishing Derby on June 1st.

Recreation Programmer Sara Helgesen says kids ages 3-14 will be able to take part in casting contests, minnow races, biggest fish contests; as well as getting their photo with their fish and winning prizes.

Helgesen says pre-registration is preferred and can be done by visiting the city’s website, the recreation division in City Hall, or It’s a Keeper Bait and Tackle in Janesville.

The recreation department is asking participants to provide their own rod, reel, and bait for the event.
