The Beloit Police department has announced the arrests of two individuals connected to a May 11th shooting on Dewey Avenue.

A release says through investigation, Kevin L. Payne, 37 and Terey A. Vance, 42, both of Beloit were identified as suspects in the shooting incident.

Officials says a warrant was issued for their arrest, and working in collaboration with the Fort Wayne Police Department and other law enforcement, the two individuals were taken into custody in Fort Wayne Tuesday.

Both are Beloit men police think shot a man in the mouth in a house on Dewey Avenue, and a criminal complaint states a witness says they tried to wrestle a black handgun out of Payne’s hands after they heard a bang in the other room and found a man they know on the floor with blood pooling around his head.

Payne faces charges of first degree attempted homicide, felon in possession of a firearm, and felony bail jumping.

Vance faces a charge of first degree attempted homicide as party to a crime.

Both Payne and Vance are awaiting extradition to Rock County.

The victim in this incident remains hospitalized in critical condition.
