The competency of a 27-year-old Janesville man accused of randomly stabbing two Walgreens employees with a scissors is apparently being called into question.

According to online court records, Edward Toyer plead not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect to two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide Thursday afternoon in Rock County Court.

Judge Karl Hanson ordered that a competency evaluation be completed prior to a review hearing in October.

The incident happened just after 9:30 p.m. on May 18th at the Walgreens on Court Street in Janesville.

Toyer is currently being held in the Rock County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
