The Beloit teenager accused of shooting a 19-year-old woman on Christmas Day appears poised to take a plea deal in Rock County Court.
17-year-old Jahmir Smith is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide with use of a dangerous weapon.
According to online court records, a plea hearing is scheduled for September 18th at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Ashley Morse. Sentencing is set for January 8th.
Smith is currently being held in the Rock County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond after having his original $300,000 cash bond reduced in May.
Beloit Police say officers were dispatched to the intersection of Porter and Yates Avenues shortly before 11:00 a.m. on December 25th on the report that a woman had been shot while driving a car.
According to the criminal complaint officers viewed surveillance video in the area and identified Smith as a suspect.
