
A 46-year-old Beloit man who punched his 71-year-old mother in the head five times over a political disagreement won’t spend any time behind bars.
According to online court records Matthew Gastonguay plead guilty Monday two counts of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He was originally charged with felony physical abuse of an elder person – intentionally causing bodily harm and disorderly conduct.
Judge Derrick Grubb sentenced Gastonguay to 12 months of probation.
Gastonguay has a history of violence, according to court records, including sexual assault of a child in Illinois in 2004, battery as a hate crime in 2007, and aggravated battery in 2011.
