Walworth County expands a popular transit service.

The Wal-to-Wal Dial-a-Ride taxi that has been in operation since 2017 is now serving riders on Sundays starting this weekend.

The county partners with VIP Services out of Elkhorn to provide the rides, which can be between any two locations in Walworth County and cost between $3 and $6.

The vehicles are equipped with ramps and lift gear for greater accessibility.

Anybody who needs a ride can call the county at least one day in advance at 262-723-4402. The hours are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

The expansion comes after increased demand and use for affordable local transportation services.

The county allocated more tax dollars to the program and also use some state and federal funding to keep it running.
