Kwik Trip adds yet another Janesville location to its plans for expansion.

The gas station/convenience store company sent a letter to neighbors in the area around the former Maurer’s Market grocery store on Milwaukee Street, inviting them to a community forum about the project.

Janesville Planning Director Duane Cherek confirmed Kwik Trip is proposing to demolish the existing building and replace it with a full gas station, liquor store and car wash facility.

This proposal comes after the city already approved plans for a new Kwik Trip on Highway 14/Humes Road and Bell Street near Hesser Toyota.

The company also recently acquired the Stop-N-Go chain of gas stations, which includes two location less than a mile away in each direction from the proposed Kwik Trip on Milwaukee Street.

Cherek said the neighborhood meeting will allow the company to receive feedback and work with nearby residents before formally requesting a conditional use permit from the city.

A representative from Kwik Trip declined the opportunity to comment until after the public forum in early September.
