A wood cutout of a raccoon is touring Rock County this winter, and the Children’s Museum of Rock County invites area children and families to try and find him.
The non-profit doesn’t have a physical location yet, but that’s not stopping them from trying to create family fun during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Board President Sarah Splinter said they partnered with the Sterling North Society to hide Rascal the racoon around Rock County each week through December 19 for a virtual scavenger hunt.
The children’s museum is having families post a selfie of Rascal with the hashtag #CMRCRascal to be entered for a weekly drawing to win prizes donated by local businesses. Every picture will be entered for the grand prize of Janesville Jets gear, delivered by Jets players themselves.
CMRC posts three hints on Facebook each week of where Rascal is located. Splinter said he will make his way around the county, with stops at many of the organizations who donated to support the event.
The children’s museum has a lease agreement with Uptown Janesville (formerly known as the Janesville Mall), and Splinter hopes her organization can set up a space for children in late 2021 or 2022.
