Janesville police arrest a sex offender for violating the rules of his supervision on Halloween.

Local officers worked with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections to try and contact 58 Janesville sex offenders between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police issued warrants for the arrest of six sex offenders who were not home during the trick-or-treat hours.

Officers arrested 64-year-old Arthur Hayford for a probation violation. He had Halloween decorations set up and a family member handing out candy, which are both violations of his sex offender rules.

Online court records show Hayford was placed on one year of probation in January after pleading guilty to misdemeanor lewd and lascivious behavior for exposing himself.
