Intoxicants appear to be a factor in the former Clinton High School wrestling coach charged with physical abuse of a child.

36-year-old Tyler Clark made his initial appearance Monday in Rock County Court, facing two felony abuse charges and two counts of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Clinton police talked to multiple students who reported Clark acting and smelling intoxicated at a wrestling practice on December 27.

A female student reported Clark wrestling her and forcefully grabbing her groin through her clothing.

A male student said Clark also punched him in the stomach and then kicked him in the head.

Clinton school district officials provided police with video surveillance of the incidents.

Clark resigned the day after he was accused, and he was arrested on Sunday.
