Rock County Court is holding its first jury trial since the start of the pandemic.
The county judges recently moved into Phase 2 of their reopening plan and approved safety criteria for in-person hearings.
The case of State of Wisconsin versus Daniel Robinson began Monday at the Rock County Job Center.
The 49-year-old Beloit man is charged with battery and disorderly conduct as acts of domestic abuse, along with multiple counts of felony bail jumping.
A room at the job center is set up with the judge’s stand and socially distanced chairs for jurors, along with plexiglass shields in place between the judge, the clerks and the lawyers.
Jurors are required to wear masks at all times, but they are not being sequestered for the four-day trial.
Another jury trial at the job center is scheduled for next week, and a backlog is awaiting scheduling after being postponed over the last year.
