Evansville Police are reminding residents to lock their cars and bring their valuables inside.

Chief Patrick Reese says early Wednesday morning officers were investigating reports of items being taken from vehicles when they spotted cars that had been stolen out of Madison and Evansville.

Reese says a short time later, another vehicle came back that had ben stolen out of Madison. Officers attempted to stop the vehicles but did not initiate a chase and eventually recovered one of the stolen cars.

Reese says he believes the criminals are from Dane County and that they come into communities at night to hit easy targets, as all of the vehicles were unlocked.
