
Finding a job may be getting easier in the Janesville-Beloit area. The Department of Workforce Development reports the May unemployment rate for the region is 4.7%. That’s down half-a-point from April, and more than 7% from a year ago. Beloit has the second highest unemployment rate in the state at 6.7%. Janesville ranks fifth highest in unemployment among the larger cities. Racine currently ranks the highest. The unemployment rate not only dropped in Rock, but all surrounding Wisconsin counties last month. DWD reports the May unemployment rate for Rock County was 4.7%. Down a half-percentage point from April and 7.5% from a year ago. Green, Dane, Jefferson, and Walworth Counties all saw a drop between .2% and .3% last month.
