The City of Janesville negotiates an offer to purchase .2 acres of land at 217 Riverside Street for $26,700.

Planning Director Duane Cherek says the City acquired the adjoining property in 2009 and cleared the site to facilitate construction of the South Jackson Street bridge.

Cherek says the garage on the property would eventually be moved or torn down in order to convert the site to green space. The property would then be used for future expansion of the bike trail.

The Janesville Plan Commission approved the acquisition in a unanimous vote this week.
