A local Republican running to replace long-time Wisconsin Secretary of State Doug La Follette would like to have duties restored to the office.

Amy Loudenbeck of Clinton says there is value in the office of Secretary of State if we add it and add a person who can build relationships with the legislature and take on some responsibility.

Loudenbeck says elections confidence is something Wisconsinites are struggling with right now and many states have a Secretary of State who is involved in elections oversight and administration.

Loudenbeck says she has a great relationship with the legislature who would be the ones to decide if they want to transfer any duties or powers to the Secretary of State.

Loudenbeck is endorsed by close to two-thirds of Republicans in the State legislature.
