A local resident with ties to Russia weighs in on the invasion of Ukraine. Russian immigrant/Janesville resident Yuri Rashkin says he thinks Vladamir Putin’s goal is to stay in power, it’s why he hates Ukraine and it’s why he hates democracy as democracy means power changing from time to time. Rashkin explains Russia’s history includes sending Russian troops to stop people’s will from being realized which is now occurring in Ukraine. He says it’s amazing to him to watch the heroism of Ukrainian people, because of the different perspectives he has. He says other countries like Moldova did not manage to join NATO to protect themselves against Russia, so they are prime targets.
