The President of Wisconsin Technology Council discusses Russian threat of cyber attacks related to Ukraine. Tom Still says federal agencies and others involved in cyber security have been working with utilities around the notion that power plants and electrical systems can be hacked and it’s possible in terms of a shut down. Still says he thinks most of these organizations have been gearing up and everything will be done to stay ahead of it, but just about anything can happen. He says multi-factor authentication, MFA, is a way for using two or more verification factors to gain access to applications, online accounts and virtual private network, VPNs. He says that’s something that was kind of a basic thing everybody should try having, especially in their businesses.
