Elections appear to be a top issue in the race for Wisconsin Secretary State despite the fact that the office has no authority on the topic.

Republican Amy Loudenbeck of Clinton announced late last year that she was not seeking another term in the Assembly an was instead running for Secretary of State.

Loudenbeck says if elected, she would advocate for the Secretary of State to have a role restoring voter confidence, improving election transparency and increasing voter outreach and education.

Long-time Incumbent Democrat Doug La Follette announced Thursday morning he’s running to protect the office from election meddling.

La Follette says he knows it won’t be easy to collect 3,000 signatures, and his campaign will rely heavily on social media.
