The State Public Service Commission awards $10 million in funding from the Energy Innovation Grant Program to 46 different projects that reduce energy consumption and demand, install renewable energy and battery storage technologies, and create comprehensive energy plans.
Edgerton City Administrator Ramona Flanigan says the Cities of Edgerton, Milton, and Evansville received a $96,000 grant to create comprehensive energy plans for each of the municipalities.
Flanigan says the project involves a lot of data gathering and understanding where each municipality is regarding energy consumption, and how we may use different techniques to save energy, reduce energy consumption, and reduce costs for citizens.
Flanigan says when there are funds available to make changes to save energy, there will already be a road map in place to do that.
