People may want to expect reconstruction to happen on Fort Atkinson’s Robert Street Bridge on or after May 23. City Manager Rebecca Houseman LeMire says Main Street will be re-striped to four lanes of traffic with two lanes in both directions for added traffic volume. On-street parking on Main will be eliminated while Robert Street Bridge is closed with pedestrian detours marked on sidewalks. Robert Street Bridge’s reconstruction includes a complete deck replacement. The pre-construction meeting hasn’t happened yet, therefore the exact date is undecided, but they wanted to air on the side of more communication to the public. The state is replacing the bridge deck this summer.
