Janesville’s Downtown Business Improvement District and the City Manager don’t seem to be seeing eye to eye.

The conflict is over who should receive the citizen appointments to the BID board.

At the City Council meeting Monday night several members spoke out against Mark Freitag’s decision to forward different recommendations than the ones the BID approved.

The BID had wanted to reappoint Jeni Lindstrom, Richard Neeno, and David Riemer as voting members and Paul Murphy as an alternate member. Freitag’s recommendation to the City Council moved Murphy to a voting member and Lindstrom as an alternate member.

The City Council approved Freitag’s recommendations in a six to one vote with council member Paul Williams dissenting.
