A nationwide recall on infant formula in February is driving the current shortage affected Rock County residents.
Nutrition and Health Associates of Rock County registered dietitian and lactation specialist Robyn Voge says families who use WIC benefits can only buy their formula at certain stores and they can’t purchase it online.
Voge says the State WIC office worked to approve additional brands of formulas that families can use their benefits to purchase, as previously they were only allowed Similac.
Voge says some babies need expensive specialty formulas due to a medical condition or food allergy.
Voge says she recommends families call around to stores to see when they get their shipments in, or go through a pharmacist who can special order formula.
