A large grant from the State of Wisconsin will allow the town of Beloit to replace the unmanned fire station number two on East Inman Parkway.

Town Administrator Tim Wellnitz says the town was awarded a $7.675 million Neighborhood Investment Fund grant.

Wellnitz says currently fire department staff can’t work out of Fire Station number two which was constructed in 1974 and designed for a single engine and two volunteer firefighters.

The town of Beloit’s grant award is part of a $22 million investment to expand programs and fund emergency response initiatives announced by Governor Tony Evers Tuesday.
