A 46-year-old Beloit man is being held in the Rock County Jail following a police pursuit of his U-Haul vehicle allegedly driving erratically throughout Rock County Friday morning.

City of Beloit Police says Town of Beloit authorities try to stop the U-Haul, but the vehicle continues into the City of Beloit.

The chase ends when the vehicle crashes near Henry Avenue and Tremont Drive in the city.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Johnny A. Curtis-Smith, tries to run but is caught with the help of a Rock County Sheriff’s Office K-9.

Curtis-Smith is treated at a local hospital before being jailed.

He’s accused of possession of drug paraphernalia and additional felonies with both the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Town of Beloit.

A passenger in the vehicle is also taken to a hospital and taken into custody.

The School District of Beloit places all buildings on lockdown during the situation.
