A free public event to celebrate the christening and launch of the USS Beloit at ABC Supply Stadium is postponed due to the forecasted extreme heat Tuesday

The event is being rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7th.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Tuesday, with the heat indexes expected to be between 100 and 105 degrees. There is also a slight chance for a few thunderstorms late Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Beloit Economic Development Director Jen Hall says while we looked forward to celebrating this event with the community, we are concerned that the heat will have devastating impacts on vulnerable individuals in the audience, especially the older veterans this event is sure to draw.
