The Rock County Historical Society shines a spotlight on the important role women played in the Civil War.

Presenter Vicki Martin will host a special program at 6:30 p.m. on July 26th at the Tallman Carriage House.

Martin says many women served as spies during the Civil War, and some even fought on the battlefield dressed as men.

Martin’s presentation features photos and documents from the 1860s, including memoirs, newspaper articles, and even FBI records that illustrate the roles that many women played in the Civil War.
