The Janesville City Council seems favorable to keeping the sanitary landfill and raising the tipping fees.

Strategies & Solutions President and CEO Dave Yanke made a presentation to the City Council this week after the City was approached about a year ago by a private entity looking to purchase the sanitary landfill.

Yanke told the City Council that the landfill has a value of $42 million for the City and $15 million for a private company.

Yanke recommended the City keep the landfill and raise the rates to be more inline with neighboring landfills in order to start bringing in positive cash flow in the next few years.
