Citizens of Janesville aren’t the only ones who got a little sticker shock last week when cost estimates for the proposed indoor athletic and conference center at Uptown Janesville jumped to close to $60 million.

Janesville Jets President Bill McCoshen says it’s an unrealistic number and everyone can feel free to erase it from their memory.

McCoshen says a new number will be coming from the consultants in the next few weeks as $60 million simply isn’t doable.

McCoshen says City officials are working with the governor’s office to try to secure ARPA funding, and in the next few weeks we should know if the $5 million earmark U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin included in the appropriations bill is approved.

The Janesville City Council will meet to get an update on the project at 3:00 Tuesday afternoon at City Hall.
