highway-81

The City of Beloit and the Stateline Area Transportation Study partner to evaluate traffic operations, traffic safety, access, and multimodal accommodations along Highway 81.

Senior Traffic Engineer Lee Gibbs says the study runs from Highway 213 to Milwaukee Road and includes parts of Liberty Avenue, Fourth Street, Portland Avenue, and White Avenue.

Gibbs says the purpose of the study is to evaluate existing and future conditions along the roadway and recommend solutions that will address current and anticipate corridor deficiencies.

Gibbs says a public information meeting will take place on September 13th from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the Beloit Public Library focusing on the part of the project west of the Rock River. A second public information meeting focusing on the part of the project east of the river will take place on September 14th at the same time and place.
