A sports tourism consulting group is recommending a number of changes to Beloit’s youth sports facility landscape.

Huddle Up Group Founder and CEO Jon Schmieder suggests the city build a brand new flat field complex consisting of eight fields with 25% of them having artificial turf, one stadium field with a capacity of 1,000 seats, and a full indoor field.

Schmeider also suggested either enhancing the current ice arena or building a new one with two sheets of ice, one being year round while the other would operate on a seasonal basis.

Schmeider then suggested making enhancements to the existing baseball and softball complex by adding permanent lighting, a championship field with more seating, and adding covered seating.

While not an official price tag, Schmider noted flat field facilities typically have a cost of $20 to $30 million. No potential price was given for the ice rink or baseball and softball field changes.
