The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office is releasing the name of the female Rock County Jail inmate who was found dead in her cell last week.

The Sheriff’s Office says shortly after 1:00 the morning of February 2nd, Correctional Officers were conducting routine security checks in the housing units.

An officer noticed 29-year-old Nicole Lemke of Janesville lying on the floor of her cell unresponsive.

The medical examiner’s office says the a forensic evaluation was completed last Friday and the cause and manner of Lemke’s death are still pending.

The incident remains under investigation.
