After a unanimous vote, the Beloit School District will reconfigure to a 3K through 5th elementary; 6th through 8th middle and 9th through 12th high school structure beginning with the 2023-2024 school year.
Superintendent Dr. Willie Garrison says declining 4k enrollment numbers showed the need for a change and they want to make sure they keep kids in the school district.
School Board Member Megan Miller said she’s heard concerns from the parents of 4th grade students, who would be transitioning back into elementary school as opposed to being in middle school based on the current configuration.
The school district planned to reconfigure in 2019, but the COVID pandemic halted any changes to how the district was setup.
