The former GM site could be the location of a new tax incremental district after the Janesville Plan Commission voted to recommend to the city council that the TID be created.
Ehlers Municipal Financial Advisor Harry Allen says there’s no projects in the works yet, but by 2037 prospective projects and development could total nearly $108 million.
Commission member Paul Williams was one of two votes against the recommendation, saying he felt the creation of the TID was premature and there needed to be a better project in the works.
The TID district still needs to appear in front of the Janesville City Council for their approval.
