Businesses and commuters are preparing for a downtown Janesville project on Milwaukee Avenue between Atwood Avenue and Main Street.

Batterman Representative Colten Tuescher says the Main Street and Parker Drive intersections will be worked on in stages and will never be closed at the same time, so people will still be able to cross Milwaukee during the project.

Tuescher says the contractors will be using lighter equipment and proper methods, so the chances of any downtown buildings being damaged is low.

The project starts Monday and WisDot expects construction activities to continue until October.
