The Janesville Police Department will be receiving a facelift to their training facility after receiving $795,000 from the city council.

Police Chief David Moore says having realistic, high intensity training is critical, and the new upgrades will allow them to have that type of training in a safe environment.

Moore says they currently have to use a classroom and move chair and tables while putting mats down on the floor, and they’ve had some minor injuries because of this.

Moore says the new 2,200 square foot addition will have padded walls and matted floors for protection.

The project is expected to start this Summer and will wrap up later this year or in early 2024.
