A local U.S. Congressman comments on the indictment of former President Donald Trump by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
2nd District Democrat Mark Pocan says it was a good health check on democracy, and just shows that nobody is above the law.
Pocan says he will let the court proceed from here.
Trump is charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree.
According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, during the election, Trump and others employed a “catch and kill” scheme to identify, purchase, and bury negative information about him and boost his electoral prospects. Trump then went to great lengths to hide this conduct, causing dozens of false entries in business records to conceal criminal activity, including attempts to violate state and federal election laws.
