A fundraiser for the Beloit Memorial Jazz Orchestra is trying to raise money for an upcoming trip to the Big Apple.

Band Director Chris Behrens says the BMJO is one of just 15 bands from around the country which will be participating in the Essentially Ellington competition on May 11th through the 13th in New York City.

Behrens says the first of three fundraising concerts will be held April 23rd and the Eclipse Center from 4:00 to 6:00pm, then on the April 30th they’ll be at the Grand Avenue Pub in Beloit, and finally a send off concert at the Butterfly Club in Beloit on May 7th.

Tickets for the April 23rd show are $10 in advance, or $15 at the door.
