The best tasting tap water in the entire state of Wisconsin resides in Janesville after the city’s utility department took home first place at a recent competition.

Utility Director David Botts says part of the success is due to the fact that the reservoir where the water comes from is all well water and is in good condition so they don’t have to treat it, unlike other city’s where they have to run it through a water treatment plant.

Competition Judge T.J. Stroebl says Janesville’s water stood out and he didn’t detect any order and the water was crisp and clean, and he also attributed the taste to Janesville’s water coming from a well.

Janesville will now take part in a national competition next June in Anaheim, California.
