A local legislator is reacting to the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision to throw out Republican drawn legislative maps at the end of December.

31st District Republican Ellen Schutt of Clinton says she shares concerns that there’s partisan beliefs when it comes to redistricting and drawing maps, but that’s why people want to move to non-partisan redistricting where each side of the aisle gets to appoint a person.

Schutt says she doesn’t think the courts should be drawing the maps, especially when the state constitution says the legislature should draw them, and she’s disappointed that Governor Tony Evers has already said he’ll veto any legislative drawn maps.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ordered new maps be drawn after throwing out Republican drawn maps by a 4 to 3 vote.
