The building and facilities across the Janesville School District need some work done according to an assessment done by consultant Point of Beginning.

Survey Crew Chief Bob Lasky says the district has older buildings, with an average age of 62 years, and there are significant capital maintenance needs at virtually every building.

Lasky says the district also has outdated learning environments including the lack of collaboration and student break out spaces, and inequitable classroom sizes across the district, which can limit teachers and students in certain rooms.

The Janesville School Board is set to receive cost estimates for portions of the assessment on January 30th.
