While City staff have been hard at work for weeks, the Janesville City Council takes its first stab at the 2025 budget Tuesday.
The Council will come together for a special meeting at 3:00 p.m. to set the parameters for next year’s budget.
City Finance Director Dave Godek says it’s a chance for the council to let staff know the items they’d like to focus on.
Godek says the City is still limited in how much it can levy in property taxes, and how much gets in state aid despite Act 12 creating a new stream of money last year.
Godek says the council is interested in getting plenty of feedback from the public.
