The City of Beloit is ramping up COVID-19 testing for the community as it continues to see a higher volume of coronavirus patients.
The Wisconsin National Guard will be opening two, free drive-through testing sites for the public at Telfer Park and Krueger Park starting Friday.
“We know that COVID-19 is here in Beloit and disproportionately impacting our Hispanic/Latinx community members,” City Manager Lori Curtis Luther said in a press release. “The free community testing will provide an opportunity for Beloit residents to get tested if they do not have a primary care physician or cannot afford the test.”
Health officials will be prioritizing testing for people showing symptoms or those who have been exposed to a known positive case.
The testing site is part of a wider partnership with Beloit Health System, Beloit Area Community Health Center and the Rock County Public Health Department.
The city will not require identification for those seeking tests, but individuals will need to provide a name, address, phone number and date of birth, so the health department can properly respond to the disease.
Forms will be available in English and Spanish, and the city will have interpreters available to help.
The National Guard will offer the free testing from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from May 15 through May 22 while supplies last.
