Construction on the new one-million square-foot Amazon distribution center in Beloit is ahead of schedule and City Manager Lori Curtis Luther says it could open this month. Luther says the speed of the development is remarkable considering Amazon approached the city less than a year ago. She says Amazon will benefit the local economy with much more than hundreds of jobs. She contends Amazon’s decision really puts Beloit on the map and the national publicity could attract other major industry.
